Paleo Fast Food Sample Menus

The following paleo fast food sample menus may portray some healthy fast food ideas that can be used. The ingredients in the sample menus can be altered according to an individual’s taste buds. Creativity is the key to develop new fast food ideas based on Paleo.

However, one should keep in mind that all the ingredients and the method of cooking should comply with the Paleolithic guidelines. This will ensure that there is no nutrient loss as well as prevents the risk of unhealthy ingredients that usually lurk in regular fast foods.

It is easier to embark on the Paleo journey with adequate information and complete understanding of why certain foods were included and avoided in Paleolithic nutrition. While preparing Paleo based fast foods the following check list will prevent deviation from the Paleo path:

      • Ensure the food and food products used are free of grains
      • No dairy products should be used
      • No salt
      • No legumes are to be used
      • No fermented, pickled, preservative containing foods
      • No trans-fats, hydrogenated oil in recipes
      • No processed sugars
      • Choose the leanest meat cuts that are grass fed and free of hormones.
      • The cooking methods should involve baking, sauteing, broiling, steaming with minimal use of oil.
      • Use salt substitute such as herbs, garlic powder, powdered onion, lemon juice, chilli powder etc.
      • Replace vinegar with lemon or lime juice
      • Substitute butter and fat with olive oil, walnut oil, flax seed oil, canola oil and mustard seed oil.

Sample Menus

Veggie dip

This easy to make veggie dip serves right as the perfect healthier alternative and a quick fix for those craving for snacks and other pre-packaged foods such as chips.


  • Dried dill : 1 teaspoon
  • Black pepper : A pinch
  • Garlic powder : ½ teaspoon
  • Egg : 1 whole
  • Lemon juice : 1 tablespoon
  • Olive oil : ½ cup
  • Flax seed oil : ½ cup
  • Dry mustard : ¼ teaspoon

Method of preparation

Blend egg with lemon juice and dry mustard for about few seconds. Add in the oils, and blend well until a thick consistency is obtained. This makes a good cup of omega-3 rich mayonnaise. Mix the mixture of mayonnaise with the rest of the ingredients and refrigerate for an hour before serving. This goes well with raw veggie sticks and as a salad dressing.

Stuffed fruit delight

This recipe is a simple assembling of fruits of choice into a bigger fruit base, ideal for to-go in the busy morning hours.


  • Cantaloupe / Honey dew melon : 1 Whole (cut in half, with seeds scooped out)
  • Berries of choice : 1 cup (strawberries can be chopped to smaller size) (Blue berries/ raspberries / strawberries)
  • Pecans / Apples : ½ cup chopped

Method of Preparation

Fill in the cut half of the base fruit with fruits of choice and garnish with mint leaves.

Simple shrimp salad


  • Shrimp : 1 pound (small sized)
  • Onion (red) : ¼ cup minced
  • Dill weed (dried) : 1 tablespoon
  • Lettuce : 2 – 3 cups chopped
  • Hard -boiled egg : 1 sliced
  • Lemon juice : 1 tablespoon
  • Paprika powder : As needed for taste

Method of preparation

Wash the shrimp well and set aside to drain well. In a mixing bowl, add in the rest of the ingredients minced onion, dill weed, lemon juice and paprika and mix well. Gradually dip in the shrimp and coat them well in the mixture. In a serving bowl, add in the lettuce and place the spice coated shrimp onto it. Top this with slices of hard boiled egg. Paprika can also be replaced with pepper powder as an option.
